Troy
Early departure this morning as we drive west along the sea of Marmara towards the Gallipoli Peninsula. This afternoon we will cross the Dardanelles and travel onward to Troy to visit the site of the famous siege and tour the archaeological remains.

Tuesday
Cape Helles, Krithia
Today we visit the WW1 battlefields of Gallipoli commencing with the landing sites of 25th April, 1915. We visit the Helles Memorial to the missing, the Turkish Gun battery and Seddulbahir the site of the grave of Doughty-Wylie. We then visit the British sector where the SS River Clyde landed the men of 29th division on V beach, the Lancashire landing site where the 1st Lancashire Fusiliers were awarded six VC’s before breakfast, X Beach where HMS implacable landed, Krithia vineyard, Krithia war museum and nearby Redoubt cemetery. This visit requires some walking as the roads to the beaches are not accessible by coach.

Day 5
Wednesday
ANZAC Cove, Lone Pine, Chunuk Bair
After breakfast we continue our tour of the April 25th landing sites as we move north to ANZAC Cove, where the Australians and New Zealanders landed. We spend the morning walking along the landing beach and see the battlefields, nearby military cemetery and preserved trenches and tunnels. We visit the Australian memorial at Lone Pine and the site where Albert Jacka became the first Australian to be awarded a VC in WW1 before detouring to the Nek, where the Australian Light Horse Brigade suffered heavily in August offensives. The day ends on the New Zealand Battlefield at Chunuk Bair memorial.

Thursday
Suvla Bay, Shell Green
Today we head to Sulva Bay, where some of the first British Pals Battalions joined the action in August 1915. Here we study the landings and also look at the history of the lost battalion, 1/5th Norfolk: the men from the Sandringham Royal estate who disappeared during the fighting in Sulva Bay. We also visit the new museum in Anafartalar before returning to ANZAC Cove to visit the now peaceful Shrapnel Valley cemetery and walk up to Shell Green where the Australians infamously played cricket in full view of the Turks.

This morning we take a ferry to the Aegean island of Gokceada for a relaxing day visiting the beaches of Aydincik, Yuvali, Yildizkoy, Ugurlu and Gizlikoy.
